United Methodist Women

Make plans to attend the upcoming event “Finding Abundant Life, A Women’s Faith Journey” on February 23, 2008. Hosted by UMW, this Saturday seminar is designed to give women an opportunity to take a break from their day-to-day lives and learn how to focus on thinking beyond themselves to reach their goals.

The keynote speaker will be Dottie Smith, owner of Edgar’s Bakery, and closing worship leader will be Rev. Amy Bowers. Breakout sessions will feature topics such as prayer, spiritual growth, health, hospitality, parenting, family, gardening and decorating. Registration is required. Trinity’s unit of UMW is a very active organization made up of 12 circles. Six meet during the day and 6 meet in the evening. Each circle is unique in its membership and in the way it interprets and upholds the universal purpose of the organization. There are also members at large and people who are part of the organization in different ways other than circle membership.

There are 6 general meetings that bring together the entire membership for food, fellowship and study. This year we will study Peace and Globalization. We will end 2007 with an awards show that honors church members who have done outstanding mission work during the year.

Each year we have several projects to earn money for missions worldwide. We have sold note cards and frozen casseroles this past year. Our largest effort for 2007 will be the 2nd Tablescapes on May 19th. Last year this was a beautiful event and this year looks to be even bigger.

The third Thursday of each month a group from our organization prepares a meal and serves it for lunch at the Firehouse Shelter. Many Circles “adopt” other mission projects to work on monthly.

Trinity’s UMW is an inclusive group of Christians who work together to better know God and to serve his kingdom. There is something here for everyone! For more information e-mail Marietta Lunceford or call the church office at 879-1737 for her number.

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
